Manor ISD Selected as Member of Inaugural Cohort in Texas Education Agency’s System of Great Schools

Manor ISD is the only school district in the Austin Area to be chosen as one of nine members of the inaugural cohort in the Texas Education Agency’s System of Great Schools (SGS) Technical Assistance Network.

The two-year cohort is designed to support districts in their exploration, design, and implementation of effective strategies for system-wide reform, according to TEA.

“Manor ISD’s goal is simple: more students attending better schools,” said MISD Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery. “We want all of our schools in Manor to be high-performing schools, and by being a member of the network we’re on solid footing to achieve that.”

Manor ISD was chosen following a year of growth and change for the district, including the announcement of new academic programs to be implemented at several schools such as Fine Arts academies, New Tech Network schools, and International Baccalaureate-certified schools.

“I am incredibly excited Manor ISD has been selected as a member of the inaugural cohort for this innovative new initiative from the Texas Education Agency,” said Manor ISD Board of Trustees President Marlin Thomas. “I look forward to working with the seven other school districts, and want to thank TEA for this honor."

The network aims to support educators in the classroom, empower families, and focus central office staffers on high-leverage oversight, innovation and support activities. As a member of the SGS Network, school districts are provided: an executive advisor throughout planning and implementation; access to informational resources, case studies, toolkits and implementation guides; and possible access to technical advisors providing support for specific SGS-related initiatives.
