Manor New Tech scholar Marissa Henley has been offered a special scholarship for her hard work.
The Titan Scholar has been named the Central Texas region winner of the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members Scholarship Award! Henley, a Senior at MNTHS, will be attending the University of Texas-Austin to major in Public Health. She is a member of the youth choir, National Honor Society, Key Club, Tech Girls, Business Professionals of America, Interact Club, Volleyball, and Homecoming Queen. She also volunteers at the Austin Humane Society, Austin Animal Center, and Austin's Trail of Lights.
"My goal is to become a doctor and specialize in pediatrics," Henley said. "My family always stressed how important it was for me to take my education seriously and set my goals high. They told me that many people would doubt me, but to ignore them and prove them wrong."
Henley will receive $2,000 and will be recognized March 22nd at 6 pm at the Doubletree by Hilton Austin Hotel.
