About Me

I graduated from Southwestern University in 2013 with my Bachelor of Science in Education. I studied Kinesiology, English, and Secondary Education. I grew up on the gulf coast area (Corpus Christi) before high school, and have lived in the Austin area since high school and college. I am a native Texan girl and LOVE the outdoors- camping, hiking, and being by the water! I am a fiction fanatic, enjoy action and comedies, and am in love with my adopted terriers. I believe writing nurtures and frees the soul, I also believe young minds are all capable of shaking the world.
For the love of humanity, I teach language arts and build students' communication skills!

Language Arts and Craft

English 2 Norms by Mrs. Fain-Jackson

Take Risks

"Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering."—Yoda

Be brave, be creative, be open-minded. The world needs you to be different. Speak up, not out.

Give all Language Arts a shot

“Great, kid. Don’t get cocky.”—Han Solo

Being a good linguist does not mean you want to become an author. All skills in this course are professional and can be applied to your future.

Academic Honesty

“Once you start down the dark path, forever it will dominate your destiny.”—Yoda

Always give credit to the intellectual. Consequences to plagiarism: guardian contact, whole-class Circle Time, then an opportunity for a real submission.

Attempt all steps of our process

“Your focus determines your reality.”—Qui-Gon Jinn

Show how you’ve grown, nobody has mastered anything yet, even your teacher. Drafting, and editing, and revising, oh my!

Don’t Stress

"Patience you must have, my young Padawan."—Yoda

Don’t worry so much about the final product, but pay attention to the experiences. Anything that is bothering you can totally be figured out. Come in before and after school.

“Yeah, I’m responsible now, the price you pay for being successful.” — Lando Calrissian

Think about what challenges you, think about how you are treating others, think about how you are going to get better.
