I was born and raised in Cedar Park, just north of Austin, and am a proud graduate of The University of Texas where I studied music education and linguistics. All through my youth I loved to sing and play piano and made some of my deepest friendships in choir at school and at church. I am now entering my sixth year of teaching and am so happy to continue building a choir program at MNTHS! In my free time I continue to pursue my passion for making music by singing in several choirs in Austin, including Chorus Austin, Texas Early Music Project, and Ars Longa. I am actively involved at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, where I direct the choir, and enjoy spending time with my family, usually over some Tex-Mex!
In my class we will be exploring music from various time periods and cultures across the world, reflecting a broad range of musical styles traditions. Students will develop the ability to read music through sight-reading and composition activities, will learn proper vocal technique including the science behind correct vocal production, and most importantly will build lasting friendships and invaluable team-building skills in an enjoyable performance-based class. I couldn't be happier to share the joy of music-making with my students! #TitanUp
